SEEing You Around: Where to Find my Visual Creative Projects

Recently in preparation for an interview on visual thinking with the Bedley Brothers  I jotted down my seemingly ever-increasing menu of sketch-related and other visual projects on the Web. Some are individual (though most are shared) and others are meant to be more crowdsourced and collaborative. It goes to show that some projects need to be abandoned…I lose interest or they lost momentum…but that is not to say they cannot be resurrected, or adapted or morphed into other thi

    #lingerlust : a #blideo (meta) response

The other day (much too long ago for @timbuckteeth’s tastes), I was challenged by the aforementioned Steve Wheeler to write a #blideo response – the first one after the phenomenon of #blimage. The video in question: While this bit of footage is undeniably poignant and a perfect analogy for persistence and stick-to-itiveness, what struck me is the very FACT of the video. Yes, I am going to get CINEMETA (bear with me I dig wordplay) The fact that the cameraman (now probably aff

    #blimage – 1 week anniversary

It’s been about a week since I was sitting delayed in Boston’s Logan airport and presented a cheeky challenge to Steve Wheeler – my compadre from across not one but TWO ponds ( aka @timbuckteeth). I’m thoroughly delighted and amazed at how it’s taken on. The other day I decided to create a little animated film about it, using my sketches in Paper by 53 and the Reflector app (to record to my laptop)…then iMovie. As I state in the film, I think the appeal of #blimage is part “c

Drawing on the Desk: Clues about Personalized and Visual Learning

Have you ever been in trouble for “drawing on the desk?” As you can probably guess from my sketching endeavors, I certainly have. When I first saw this #blimage challenge I was reading this post from David Hopkins. David’s post describes a very personal and not too positive experience with this type of desk: Growing up in 1970’s Southern California, I had the same type of flip-top desk but in lieu of wood, it was some sort of synthetic laminate over metal. The bad news (for m

Breaking Bread with Steve Wheeler #blimage

A few days ago I challenged Steve Wheeler (@timbuckteeth) to compose a blog post based on 1 of a choice of 3 images I sent him. Being the sharp mind he is, he happened to incorporate all three! He volleyed back with this image of bread spilled on the street, and was careful to say he took the photo in Paris. After some rumination here it goes – 3 analogies… Bread as Knowledge One if the first things that struck me was the tone of “waste”. It was particularly intriguing that t
